Driver injures HPD officer blocking pothole on the Katy Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A driver injured a Houston Police Department officer blocking a pothole on the Katy Freeway on early Saturday morning, KHOU 11 reports.

The driver hit a patrol car blocking a pothole on the Katy Freeway near Lockwood. The unidentified officer was in the vehicle at the time of the crash and sustained a cut to the head. They were hospitalized after the crash.

The driver responsible for the accident was also taken to the hospital in unknown condition. A second officer reportedly sustained minor injuries as well.

Intoxication is not believed to be a factor in the accident. An investigation remains underway.
