Vehicle strikes, kills pedestrian in New Year’s crash in SW Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was killed in an accident in southwest Houston on New Year’s Day, according to the Houston Police Department.

The collision occurred in the 11200 block of S Wilcrest Drive, near the Meadows Place area, at around 6:45 p.m., when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, died as a result of the crash.
The driver was not reported as injured.
HPD warned travelers to avoid the area, as heavy traffic delays were likely.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
