Drunk driver arrested in fatal crash on the North Loop West

HOUSTON, TX – A drunk driver was arrested in a fatal crash that took place on the North Loop West on Christmas morning, according to the officers at the Houston Police Department.

43-year-old Andrea Lee Thimmig was driving a black Buick Encore near 1500 North Loop West when she ran a red light and hit a Honda Civic traveling on Ella Boulevard. Two people fled the scene of the crash on foot — Thimmig, the driver, was eventually caught by police.

The driver of the Honda Civic was declared dead by emergency responders. Thimmig was determined to be intoxicated at the time of the crash and has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter. Authorities also discovered that she was wanted for multiple felony warrants in both Harris and Fort Bend Counties.
