PLUM GROVE, TX (LIBERTY COUNTY) – A mother in Liberty County severely injured her 4-month-old infant girl when she accidentally struck the baby with her car yesterday, according to ABC 13 Houston.
The accident happened at about 6 p.m. in Plum Grove, which is located near the border of Montgomery and Liberty Counties, on County Road 3548. The 4-month-old victim was in the front yard when her mother struck her with her vehicle.
The accident reportedly happened because the mother, who has yet to be publicly identified, did not realize that the car was in drive.
After the crash, the mother drove to a nearby store while speaking to 911 dispatchers on the phone. There, she was helped by a store employee who administered first aid to the infant.
The girl and her mother were taken to the hospital in Houston so that the infant could be treated for severe head injuries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the collision at this time.
