Crash during Katy Fwy police pursuit causes injury to Harris Co. deputy

KATY, TX – A deputy for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was injured while pursuing a suspect in a chase near the Katy Freeway early this morning, according to KHOU.
The accident happened on the Katy Fwy feeder road, near Fry Road, and was reported by Harris County officials just after 2 a.m.
Traffic unit is working a fleet at Fry and I 10 Deputy suffered non life threatening injuries. The vehicle he was pursuing was stopped by other Deputies. East bound feeder and Fry RD are shut down. pic.twitter.com/NCp0aPE0vo

The crash occurred as the deputy was attempting to make a U-turn during the pursuit and was subsequently struck by another vehicle.
The officer was taken to an area hospital for the treatment of leg and face injuries and is expected to survive.
The pursued driver was later stopped by other officers.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
