81-year-old woman dies in Spring house fire despite rescue attempts

SPRING, TX – An 81-year-old woman died Saturday morning in a house fire in the Hampton Pointe neighborhood of Spring despite a reported attempt by her son to save her, according to KTRK.
The fire broke out near Gosling Road at about 2:30 a.m.
The victim was found by firefighters in a back bedroom of the home, killed by the fire.
The victim’s son was woken by smoke from the fire and attempted to rescue his mother. However, he reports that he was driven from the home by the overwhelming blaze and smoke and had to flee.
Firefighters battling the conflagration fought the fire from the back of the structure, where the fire was less intense.
The incident is currently under investigation.
