81-year-old woman dead in Main Street car accident

HOUSTON, TX – An 81-year-old woman died in a car accident early Friday morning, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department.
The accident happened around 6:15 a.m. on the 4800 block of Main Street.
A 37-year-old woman was driving a white Ford Escape when her automobile traveled into the wrong lane and then hit a metal utility pole.
The victim and the driver were both taken to the hospital, where the 81-year-old woman was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.
Police say that a medical event could have caused the accident.
The driver was found not to be under the influence.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
