HOUSTON, TX – An off-duty police officer and two other people were hospitalized following a series of accidents on the Katy Freeway early this morning, according to KHOU.
The crash occurred near a construction site on the Katy Freeway (I-10) and Highway 6 at about 5:50 a.m.
A vehicle near the construction area was sideswiped by another automobile. As the off-duty officer and a construction worker, the crew foreman, were investigating the crash, they were struck by the driver of a gold Mercedes.
That driver then fled the scene.
A Houston Fire Department truck at the scene was struck from behind by a pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck, the worker, and the officer were taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash. At this time, no charges have yet been filed.
