2-year-old girl fatally ejected from minivan in possible DWI on Hwy 290

HOUSTON, TX – A 2-year-old girl was killed in an accident after a possibly-intoxicated driver ran a red light in northwest Houston yesterday afternoon, according to KHOU and the Houston Police Department.

The accident occurred in the 12500 block of the Northwest Freeway (Highway 290), near Bingle Road, at about 3:15 p.m., when the driver of a green Ford pickup truck allegedly ran a red light, then collided with a Toyota minivan. The Toyota then crashed into another vehicle.
A 2-year-old girl was ejected from the Toyota. She was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries.
The pickup truck driver, who reportedly showed signs of being under the influence, was taken to the hospital for the treatment of undisclosed injuries. Their identity was not immediately available.
The accident is being investigated by DWI officials at this time.
