HOUSTON, TX – A 19-year-old woman was killed by a drunk driver in a crash in north Houston on Sunday afternoon, ABC 13 reports.
Authorities say that two men got into a fight in a bank parking lot near 200 West Road around 1:30 p.m. One of the men then got into a Mazda 3, driven by 19-year-old Adrienne Sophia Exum.
Exum then sped onto West Road unrestrained and with one of her car doors open. She was then hit by a pickup truck driven by Heriberto Fuerte-Padilla. She was then ejected from her car and thrown onto the roadway. Unfortunately, Exum was killed upon impact. The man in the car was not hurt.
Padilla attempted to flee the scene but was detained by authorities. He was determined to be intoxicated at the time of the accident and has since been charged with a DWI. The men fighting in the parking lot were also arrested.
