19-year-old dead, 1 injured following possible street-racing crash in Baytown

BAYTOWN, TX – A 19-year-old driver was killed in a possible street-racing accident on FM 1942 in Baytown last night, according to KHOU.

The crash happened in the 6500 block of FM 1942 Rd, near N Main Street, at about 7:30 p.m., when the driver of a Dodge Challenger and 19-year-old Avyn Craig were reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and racing side-by-side.

Craig then lost control of his vehicle, causing the vehicle to fishtail and collide with two other vehicles nearby.

The driver of the Challenger then sped away.

Craig was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another male victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
