18-wheeler collision, fire shuts down IH-610 North Loop in NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — An 18-wheeler caught fire Wednesday morning after a crash involving another big rig on North Loop East Freeway in northeast Houston, reports KHOU11.

The accident occurred on the eastbound lanes at Wayside Drive, near the city’s Kashmere Gardens area, and was verified by Houston Transtar shortly after 5:00 a.m.

Little information has been provided at this time, but authorities said one of the vehicles is a gas truck.

All main traffic lanes were expected to remain closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to put out the fire and clear the scene.

Houston Fire Department confirmed no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
