HOUSTON, TX — A box truck fire Wednesday morning caused two lanes to close for hours on the Eastex Freeway in northeast Houston’s Kashmere Gardens area, according to ABC13.
The incident was reported on the northbound freeway past the IH-610 North Loop at about 4:00 a.m.
Few details have been provided, but authorities said the driver pulled over after the warning lights illuminated in the truck. Shortly after, smoke was observed coming out from the engine compartment.
No injuries were reported in the event, but two northbound lanes remained blocked for just over six hours during the emergency response and clearance of the wreck.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
