16-year-old dead, driver injured in alleged DUI crash on Bellaire Blvd

HOUSTON, TX – A teenage girl was killed in an accident involving a possibly intoxicated driver on Bellaire Boulevard early this morning, according to information from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The crash occurred at 15770 Bellaire Blvd, near Addicks Clodine Road and Corta Calle Drive at around 4 a.m., after a driver, identified as 19-year-old Eduardo Barrera, reportedly drove off the side of the road, where he collided with a tree.
His passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was taken to the hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.
Barrera was taken to the hospital for the treatment of a broken arm.
According to authorities, he was also displaying signs of being under the influence. Barrera was taken into police custody on charges of intoxication manslaughter.
