1 person dead following possible DUI crash on Southwest Fwy early Sun. morning

HOUSTON, TX – A person was killed and an alleged drunk driver is facing charges following a crash on the Southwest Freeway early this morning, according to KTRK.
The crash occurred on the southbound freeway, south of Bissonnet Street, at about 4 a.m., when a black pickup truck went off the side of the road and crashed into a light pole. The impact sent it back into the traffic lanes, where it collided with a second vehicle.
The driver of that second vehicle was pronounced dead after the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck is thought to have been under the influence. They are facing possible intoxication manslaughter charges in connection with the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
