KATY, TX – One person was killed and another four were sent to the hospital as a result of a fiery, head-on collision on Little York Road last night, according to KHOU.
The crash happened in the 19200 block of W Little York Rd near Greenhouse Road at around 10:17 p.m., after the driver of an eastbound Range Rover went into the center median.
The vehicle then traveled into the lanes of oncoming westbound traffic, where it collided head-on with a second vehicle. A third vehicle then crashed into the side of the second.
The impact caused the Range Rover to overturn and resulted in the driver being ejected. The Range Rover then burst into flames, and the fire spread to the other vehicles involved in the crash.
The driver of the Range Rover died at the scene.
The driver of the struck vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening.
The three occupants of the third vehicle were sent to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Authorities believe that speed may have been a factor in the collision, and that the area where the crash occurred is poorly lit. Their investigation continues at this time.
