Driver charged with manslaughter after fatal crash on North Main Street

HOUSTON, TX – A driver was charged with manslaughter following a fatal crash on North Main Street on Friday afternoon, the Houston Police Department reports.
Authorities say the suspect, 24-year-old Jorge Garcia, was speeding near 8100 North Main Street when he crashed into a pickup truck leaving a stop sign. After the crash, the truck caught on fire and a 58-year-old woman became trapped inside. She was declared dead a the scene.
A male in the vehicle was able to escape but was declared dead at a nearby hospital. Garcia has been charged with two counts of manslaughter.
