Construction worker killed in wreck on FM 521

HOUSTON, TX – A construction worker was tragically killed in a wreck on FM 521 on Wednesday afternoon, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Construction worker Martin Rodriguez was operating a Caterpillar front end loader near 14800 block of FM 521. Isidro Matamoros, a construction worker at the same company as Rodriguez, was walking in the road’s northbound lanes when he was struck by the front end loader. He was knocked to the ground and then run over by the vehicle.
According to a witness, Matamoros was reportedly walking with his head down and on his phone at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
