El Paso – Jose Roberto Prieto Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Mesa Street and Festival Drive

The 16-year-old boy who died following a fatal vehicle collision in west El Paso has been identified.
Police named the victim as Jose Roberto Prieto. He was a junior at Coronado High School, reports said.
An initial investigation indicates that the deadly accident took place at around 10:40 p.m. near the cross street of Mesa Street and Festival Drive. A speeding Mercedes was seen traveling along the area when it collided with another vehicle that was attempting to enter the roadway from an apartment complex. The impact of the collision killed Prieto who was a passenger in the Mercedes. Meanwhile, the driver and another passenger in the Mercedes sustained non-life threatening accident and were both taken to University Medical Center for treatment. Their condition was not immediately released.
El Paso police discovered that two more occupants in the Mercedes fled the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
