Austin – Auto vs Pedestrian Collision on William Cannon Drive

The Austin Police Department is conducting an investigation about a pedestrian crash on William Cannon Drive that happened last Sunday.
According to the release, the incident occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on William Cannon Dr near Highway 290, South Austin. Police said that a person was hit by a passing vehicle as he was attempting to cross the highway. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene. His identification was not immediately disclosed pending notification of his next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene. He is cooperating with the investigators.
A preliminary investigation shows that the victim was crossing the highway against the traffic lights and outside the designated crosswalk.
It was not clear if charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
